Storyline: The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone's user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression - except for Gene, an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become "normal" like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak. Together, they embark on an epic "app-venture" through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it's deleted forever.

All jokes and memes aside, it was actually enjoyable.
Even though It has low rating and Is made fun of a lot, It was actually enjoyable! I watched this movie with my friend In theaters and I was thinking It would be an awful movie that I could make fun of but then It was actually pretty enjoyable. There are a few kinda cringy parts such as some of the dancing scenes but it was still an enjoyable movie. My serious rating: 8.5/10
The Best Movie EVER!
I seen the movie was AMAZING!!! I'm not kidding (or on drugs), I'm being honest. I give that movie 10/10! Here's why: Anyone can use emojis to have better conversations in real life, its a way to show your friends/family how you're feeling. The movie is actually creative but not because of the emojis. In the movie, the emojis use their own emotions in order to get the text right but one of them is different because he has ALL the emotions which makes him an outcast (malfunction). It's never about the emojis, it's about the adventure. What kind? Self-discovery. The hero goes on a quest in order to have the emotion he was meant to have but along the way, he learns that to fit in, you must be yourself, It's OK to be who you are. He can become popular by using all the emotions at the same time (even save ALL the emojis from being deleted (killed)). The whole point of the hero's quest is to find out who he is, not become what he is supposed to be. Sometimes, movies aren't just for entertainment, it teaches you life lessons too. This movie taught them (especially me) that its OK to express yourself by showing your feelings to anyone you know and love. Being who you are makes you significant, brilliant, interesting, special and extraordinary. You don't have to change in order to fit in, being who you really are does. That's what the movie taught me when I first watched it. (It's also a zero to hero story, MY FAVORITE!)
This movie was a pile of 💩
The Emoji Movie is the worst movie I have ever seen in my hopefully short life. The funniest thing about this "jam packed comedy" was the fact that I was that nobody in the whole audience was laughing. The plot was predictable I felt no emotion towards a single character. The puns were 💩 quite literally. I had to apologise to my distraught family after taking them to see this film. I knew it would be bad but I didn't think it would be quite this bad. I am still in trouble from my wife for forcing her to put up with all 90 minutes of this predictably boring film.
Absolutely transcendent
One of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. Better than Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Pulp Fiction... The script is tight, acting is phenomenal, not a second is wasted. For every second of this movie I felt like I was in a different dimension, seeing the light of God himself as I watched every second of creation twist and turn in front of me. This is the peak of human achievement. To quote Bjork - "I'm no f***ing Buddhist, but this is enlightenment."
Cancer incarnate
Please, anyone reading this, do not go out and spend money on this 'film'. By doing so, you will be paving the way for the inevitable Emoji cinematic universe or 'Fidget Spinner: The Movie'. Never before have I deemed a movie to be evil, but the very act of taking the icons you use on your phone to convey some sort of emotion and converting them into the subject of an actual movie aimed at little kids is deeply sinister and shameless. A movie like this only further encourages the tech and screen obsessed children of 2017 to suck harder on the corporate teat that has consumed their entire short existence. Products like The Emoji Movie contribute heavily to the dumbing down of the culture and will only succeed in producing even more mindless and braindead drones. Just imagine for a second an entire generation of kids who grew up watching The Emoji Movie. I shudder at the thought. Cynical and shamelessly corporate crap like this 'film' only contributes further to a degenerate and dying culture. I mean we got the Angry Birds Movie last year and The Lego Ninjago Movie is still to come. How have children's movies come to this? Apps and plastic toy bricks are now greenlit into multi million dollar movies. This is child exploitation by corporations at it's finest, and the sad thing is many people don't seem to care. Watching magical and inspiring films as a child can help shape your morals, personality and even an artistic sensibility. I shudder to think of the types of people The Emoji Movie will produce.
I've Lost My Will to Live
I saw this movie with my friends, thinking we could have some fun by making fun of this, knowing it would be horrible. But we didn't realize how awful it would be.

The movie is written by an obvious sociopath trying to convince everyone that they are a completely normal person, with lines like "Just play it cool and send her an Emoji," or "Oh, I hate knocking over the elderly." The delivery of said lines just drives this point home: nobody says any line in any kind of convincing or believable manner, just with some random emotional inflection that vaguely applies to the matters at hand.

The characters are equally baffling as well: most characters have no arc whatsoever and just end the movie exactly where they started, but the few that do have "character development" accomplish that within 5 minutes of their internal conflict being introduced. There is a scene in which Anna Farris's character tells T.J. Miller's that she's always "looking out for number one," he gives a ham-fisted line that was supposed to be profound, and she immediately decides that she agrees with him. Meanwhile, they are having this conversation immediately after they believe James Corden's character has DIED, and are treating that fact as though it was a mild inconvenience.

Plus, this movie also just doesn't have any rules whatsoever. James Corden, while trapped in the trash, read an e-mail that was never sent, and thus Anna Farris never had any access to because it was trashed immediately. As soon as he brings it up, however, Anna Farris IMMEDIATELY finds it and can read it perfectly easily. Then, just a short scene later, one single Emoji DOWNLOADS THE SOURCE CODE TO THE CLOUD. Because yeah, you can just do that. And at the movie's climax, everyone dies, but then are brought back to life because Jake T. Austin's human character unplugged his phone from the 'Phone Delete Machine,' because yep, that's how phones work.

The attempts at 'humor' caused me to legitimately tug at my hair and curl inward in my seat. My friends and I were completely floored by the sheer absurdity that was this movie, and when we left the theater, we were physically exhausted. I had a splitting headache after it was all said and done, and when someone else asked me how I felt about it, I was just at a loss. I don't know if I can even go on anymore, having experienced the sheer soul-sucking emotional black hole that is the Emoji Movie.
A work of divine creation
The emoji movie fascinates me. What you think is just a lazy cash grab by Sony animation, is actually an intelligent art film made by ancient scholars and philosophers. Now most film critics may disagree, but they are only humans, and it's their job to review films. Yes films, movies. And they go and they review the emoji movie like they would any other. But, unlike the name suggests, the emoji movie isn't a movie! It's much more! More like a work of art! A work of divine creation! You wouldn't grade a work of art the same way you would grade a film. You can't say a work of art has bad editing, writing or score music! Its best to just leave it alone as it's own being and not give it a rating. It's like going up into the beautiful Himalayan mountain range and giving the view a 7/10 and height a 10/10 and the temperature a 5/10, it just doesn't work and it makes no sense. But if I was to give the emoji movie a rating, I would give it a perfect score, not that it matters, but the fickle human mind is unfortunately influenced by what the critics say. But never mind that, just go see it yourself. It truly is an emojinal roller-coaster
Me and 2 other friends went to see this movie and we all agreed that it was cringy but also good at the same time which is the reason why i am giving this movie its deserved rating me and my 2 other friends that saw this movie too i also think that this movie shouldn't have replaced the popeye movie too
Don't care about haters
Hey, just watched this movie with family, and it was great!

Not a history breaker, but a great, lightweight movie to have fun, minimal violence (fits everyone over 6), many references to this crazy mobile-app World we are living in.

I liked the characters, most loved Jailbreaker, and poop. I also liked the world Emojis are living in. The story has some lightweight teaching, too.
I enjoyed it
The Emoji Movie: My opinion

So in a sense the entire film is about a meh emoji who feels more than one emotion. From a teenage point of view this doesn't sound like a very gripping plot but I did find this movie quite enjoyable for what it is. Despite the film being marketed for kids it still retains some jokes that teens may find somewhat funny. I will admit the product placement at times is a bit cringe, like with the candy crush and just dance portions of the film but fair play to James Corden he actually puts on quite a good show despite only being a voice of a character. I will admit however I felt sorry for Gene (the meh emoji) when he was rejected by Jailbreak as you could defiantly tell their was some kind of sexual tension between the two, despite being a kids film. I have a few criticisms, first off I am pretty sure the eggplant emoji gets used a hell of a lot. Also Sir Patrick Stewart has really gone down hill in my mind due to him playing as a poo instead of some of his more major roles in films like x men.

Overall in my option the emoji movie is an OK kids film and people need to remember that this film is a kids film and not a Hollywood mega film (despite the 50 million USD budget) that is aimed for all. I will admit I went with low hopes to this film but was shocked at the fact I enjoyed it.

All in all the film is OK for what it is but nothing that special. I would recommend this film to young children and teens. However don't go and see this film if you are expecting a masterpiece.
